I adopted a 30 year old horse. He gets osteopath, massage, feet done regularly, special diet , herbal fly spray, grooming , shots, worming, vet etc. I feel he served man well and deserves it. It costs plenty and I go without. What do I get? Companionship, great exercise mucking stalls and paddocks and a tranquil place to go. I am 65 and we grow older together. Domestic horses and many people would love to have what I have. Financially they can’t. I have sympathy for mustangs and prisoners but I feel the tax dollars would be better spent on a domestic horse who serves man and people who would benefit from horse companionship. Help the rescues and give priority to our wounded soldiers, veterans, children, disabled, mentally challenged, stessed out workers, seniors and others who would benefit from horse companionship. Here coyotes kill our dogs and cats, deer spread Lyme disease and we the people pay our taxes. I have Lyme disease so I guess I take this personally. I don’t like to have the grandchildren out after dark or to walk my little dog. The city has criminals and the country has wild animals. They get special consideration and the people get higher taxes.I have lived in the same area for 63 years and our environment has not changed for the better. My sons played outside after dark with their little dog. I spent vacations in the city with my cousins and played out after dark. The human and animal wilding of America is wrong.
